Looking Ahead to 2017

T.G. Sowerby Developments are looking forward to the new challenges that 2017 will bring.

T.G. Sowerby Developments has enjoyed an eventful and prosperous 2016 and is looking forward to coming back in the New Year to an exciting workload and new opportunities.

Managing Director, Steve Sowerby said, “We have had a busy year, with one thing and another.

At the end of April, we handed over the Ermine Grove Development at Broughton, which was extremely well-received and Chris took his team to St Lawrence’s Road in Scunthorpe to start a project which was due to complete at the end of January next year, but was in fact handed back for the start of December this year.

As we came into May, we started up our Plumbing and Heating Division once again and in just seven months we have set on a second plumber who we are sponsoring to complete his Gas Training, and an Apprentice Plumber who is undertaking his NVQ.

We also started on site at Plymouth Road in Scunthorpe in May, building 20 new houses for Ongo Homes, which are due to be handed back in the middle of next year and are coming on extremely well.

We had some success went with the LABC Awards this year. In May, we went with Ongo to the South Yorkshire & Humber LABC Awards, where we had entered the development at Blackmoor Road in Haxey and were delighted that it was shortlisted as a finalist. In June, we went with Trinity Hospital Estates to Leicester for the East Midlands LABC Awards, where Bassetlaw Building Control had entered the Daryl Room Extension. We won the ‘Best Small Commercial’ Category, which put us through to the National Finals in London where we were a finalist, an extremely gratifying result. We’re looking forward to putting in this year’s entries, in both regions again.

We’ve had several new faces join the firm this year, and seen the return of some old hands. We’ve continued our commitment to Apprenticeships, setting on Apprentice Bricklayers, Plasterers, Joiners and Plumbers, as well as a Trainee Site Manager and a Trainee Quantity Surveyor who are undertaking HNC’s in Construction and the Built Environment.

We have some very exciting projects lined up for 2017 and beyond, and some very exciting prospects which we will be announcing early in the New Year.”
