Blackmoor Road Development, Haxey

A Development of 13 Detached and Semi-Detached Bungalows on a site in Haxey, North Lincolnshire

Project: Bungalows at Blackmoor Road, Haxey

Client: North Lincolnshire Homes

Site Manager: Lee Castelluccio/Terry Davis/Chris Sowerby

Completion: April 2015

This project saw the redevelopment of 'Hallcroft Close' formerly a sheltered housing scheme which had found itself redundant. In its place, a scheme of detached and semi-detached two-bedroomed bungalows was built, designed by BSB Architects from Hull.

The bungalows are modern, but built to be sympathetic and complimentary to their surroundings, with the style of Haxey's houses a major contributor to their design and appearance. The properties boast off-street parking, front and rear gardens and internally the rooms are designed to provide the maximum amount of space, with spacious rooms.

The scheme was designed with Environmental and Ecological considerations in mind. Bird and Bat Boxes were built into the properties' gables and the trees and shrubbery were carefully selected with Ecological Considerations in mind. The dwellings were all built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, achieved through incorporating environmentally friendly materials into the build (the 'fabric-first' approach) and sustainable features such as energy-efficient boilers, compost bins and rainwater collection butts.

We are proud of this development, it was highly praised by both the client and incoming tenants and we hope to emulate the project's success with its successor project 'Ermine Grove' at Broughton, a further Rural Affordable Housing Development of 13 Bungalows for North Lincolnshire Homes.
